Sara Pope
Social Worker, Caregiver, Advisory Board Member
Sara is a qualified Social Worker with a Bachelor of Applied Social Science and a Post Graduate Diploma in Supervision, bringing over twenty years of social work experience across community, residential, and health settings to Steady Nest.
Sara's career spans some of Queensland's most complex and sensitive areas of care — including senior practice roles supporting victim-survivors of domestic and sexual trauma at Micah Projects, therapeutic support for children and families affected by childhood cancer at Redkite, foster care and out-of-home care supervision, and hospital-based social work at Rockhampton Base Hospital across medical, palliative, and emergency settings.
She holds additional qualifications in Play Therapy, trauma-informed practice, family therapy, and the Circle of Security parenting model, and has supervised youth workers, foster carers, and student social workers throughout her career.
At Steady Nest, Sara draws on this depth of experience across perinatal support, before and after school care, and independent living support for older clients — and, given her post-graduate qualification in supervision and years spent coaching and mentoring practitioners, will also take on a supervision role for Steady Nest's student placements.
Before social work, Sara trained as a qualified Nanny, and that early grounding in hands-on childcare has never really left her. She is also a mother and grandmother, and recently stepped back from the workforce for a period to focus on family caregiving responsibilities — an experience that's given her a firsthand understanding of the pressures multi-generational families carry, and the practical, everyday support that makes the biggest difference.
Sara is passionate about achieving the best possible outcomes for children and families, bringing a strengths-based, person-centred approach to everyone she works with.
