Sharon Iedema
Nanny, Family Support Caregiver, Team Co-Ordinator
Sharon brings decades of experience supporting families, volunteers, and communities to Steady Nest, built on a genuine gift for making people feel looked after — whether that's a child in her care or a family needing reassurance.
That people-first approach shaped almost seven years as Administration Assistant with The Salvation Army Fassifern, where Sharon supported Corps members, staff, and volunteers, and handled sensitive welfare enquiries with care. She has a particular strength in organising people for a cause — having coordinated the Red Shield Appeal across the Logan Zone and catered fundraising dinners for up to 100 guests — and at Steady Nest, Sharon will help organise and coordinate the team whenever Steady Nest participates in charity events and fundraising initiatives.
For over fifteen years, Sharon has also volunteered weekly with Mainly Music, supporting set-up, sound, and singing for young families, and has spent years alongside Kids Church and Lego Club, engaging directly with children in group settings.
Beyond her professional life, Sharon is a mother and grandmother who has spent years providing hands-on support to her daughter navigating the demanding early years of raising four children, including a set of twins. Her daughter said Sharon was "the biggest help" during that time, describing her as "someone I could trust with my entire family" — helping her bond with her newborns while still being there for her older children. That trusted, hands-on experience with multiples, sleep routines, and sibling dynamics gives Sharon a natural, practical understanding of what families need from a caregiver — patience, calm under pressure, and an instinct for what a stretched parent needs before they have to ask.
